The Rolex GMT-Master II reference 126710BLRO, known the world over simply as the 'Pepsi', traces its lineage to a pilot's instrument built for Pan Am crews crossing time zones in the 1950s. Seventy years on it remains one of the most recognisable watches ever made, and that red and blue bezel is no small piece of engineering: firing two distinct colours into a single piece of Cerachrom ceramic took Rolex years to solve, and the result will not fade or scratch in a lifetime of wear.
Here it sits on the Jubilee bracelet, the supple five-link design that takes the hard edge off a tool watch and lets it slide from a flight deck to a dinner table without missing a beat. The glossy black dial carries Chromalight luminous markers and the 24-hour hand that tracks a second time zone at a glance. It presents in excellent condition.
This timepiece comes with its box and a certificate of authenticity from The Horologist. Please note it carries a random serial and is offered without original papers, so a precise production year cannot be confirmed.
