Rolex Datejust 36 16233 Black Vignette Diamond Dial Two Tone Yellow Gold 1988

The Rolex Datejust 36 reference 16233 in Oystersteel and 18k yellow gold with the black vignette diamond dial. The 16233 was introduced in 1988, and this R serial example comes from that very first year of production, the generation that brought the sapphire crystal and quickset date to the two-tone Datejust. Vignette dials, which fade from a lighter centre out to a deep black edge, were a short-lived factory option from this era, and their dramatic gradient has made them a favourite with collectors of vintage Datejusts.

The black vignette dial is set with factory diamond hour markers that sparkle against the gradient, with the date under the Cyclops lens at 3 o'clock. The 18k yellow gold fluted bezel and the two-tone Jubilee bracelet give it that classic, unmistakable Datejust look, dressy enough for the evening and easy to wear every day. The watch has been fully serviced and presents in excellent condition, and it is covered by our 12-month in-house warranty.
