The Rolex Datejust 31 reference 68279 Tridor, an 18k white gold case with a yellow gold fluted bezel on the extraordinary three-colour gold President bracelet, set with a champagne diamond dial. Tridor, meaning three golds, was Rolex's name for its bracelets combining yellow, white and rose gold in alternating links, a combination that took considerably more craftsmanship to produce than a single-metal bracelet. Tridor pieces were only ever made in very small numbers during the 1980s and 1990s, and today they are genuinely rare, with complete examples seldom coming to market.
The warm champagne dial is set with factory diamond hour markers that sparkle against its sunburst finish, with gold hands and the date under the Cyclops lens at 3 o'clock. The three tones of gold run through every link of the President bracelet, giving the watch a richness and depth that a standard gold Datejust simply cannot match, and the 31mm midsize case wears beautifully on a wide range of wrists. Its 9 million serial dates it to around 1986. It presents in excellent condition and is covered by our 12-month in-house warranty.
This timepiece comes with the watch, a generic Rolex box, original Rolex chronometer papers, and a certificate of authenticity from our independent horologist. No manual booklet.
