Cartier Santos Galbee 1565 White Dial Stainless Steel Automatic

The Cartier Santos traces its lineage to 1904, when Louis Cartier made a watch for the aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont and created what many regard as the first purpose-built wristwatch. This is the Santos Galbee reference 1565 in stainless steel, its curved case (the 'galbee') hugging the wrist, with the signature exposed screws on bezel and bracelet, a white dial with painted Roman numerals and blued steel hands, and an octagonal crown set with a blue cabochon.

Better still, this is the automatic version: the caseback is engraved 'Automatique', housing a self-winding mechanical movement rather than the far more common quartz. It presents in great condition and comes with a Cartier travel pouch and a certificate of authenticity. Please note there is no box or original papers.
