Selling a Rolex should be simple: one appointment, an honest offer, and the money in your hands before the watch leaves them. The valuation is free, there is no obligation to sell, and if you accept our offer you are paid instantly by bank transfer or cash.

Call or message Dmitri on 0423 778 091 to book a time, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm.

Which Rolex models do we buy?

All of them, modern and vintage, in steel, two-tone and gold. The references we see most often, and are always keen on, include:

  • GMT-Master II, including the Batman and Pepsi
  • Daytona, including the 116500LN and 126500LN
  • Submariner, date and no-date, including the Starbucks and Hulk
  • Explorer II
  • Sea-Dweller
  • Datejust 36 and 41, including vintage two-tone
  • Day-Date

If your Rolex isn't on this list, call anyway. We buy across the full range.

What decides what your Rolex is worth?

Two watches with the same reference can be worth very different amounts. These are the things that move a Rolex offer, roughly in order of how much they matter.

The reference. Demand varies hugely between models. Discontinued references often carry a premium, because the supply can only shrink. Current production references are easier to price because there is a steady market for them.

Box, papers and the warranty card. A full set, meaning the original box, the warranty card and the booklets, is worth more than a watch on its own. The card matters most. It proves where and when the watch was sold, and it matters even more if the watch is still inside Rolex's five-year warranty. Missing the card doesn't stop a sale; it just changes the number.

Condition and polishing. Honest wear on an unpolished case is often worth more than a watch that has been polished too many times. Heavy polishing softens the sharp edges of the case and lugs, and collectors notice. Don't polish a watch before you sell it.

Original parts. Rolex buyers want the watch as it left the factory. Aftermarket diamonds, dials or bezels usually reduce the value rather than add to it. Replaced parts from a service are normal and fine, as long as they are genuine Rolex.

Service history. Service papers show the watch has been looked after. If a service is due, that is factored into the offer. It doesn't stop us buying.

The bracelet. Stretch in an older bracelet affects how the watch wears and what it is worth, and the spare links count too. Bring them if you have them.

How the Horologist checks your Rolex

Every Rolex we buy is inspected by the Horologist in the Dymocks Building before we pay for it. The check covers authenticity, whether the parts are original, the condition of the case and bracelet, and whether the watch is running as it should.

The point is that you get an offer based on what is actually inside the case, not a guess from photos. If something affects the price, we show you what it is and explain why. You are never asked to accept a number without knowing where it came from.

How selling your Rolex works

  1. Get in touch. Call or message 0423 778 091, or email sales@watchbiz.com.au, with the model, reference and a few photos. Tell us whether you have the box and papers.
  2. Get an indication. We come back with a price range so you know what to expect before you travel in.
  3. Book an appointment. Bring the watch to our office in the Dymocks Building. The Horologist inspects it and we make a firm offer.
  4. Get paid. If you accept, you are paid instantly by bank transfer or cash. You don't hand the watch over until the money is with you.

Bring photo ID. We are a licensed second-hand dealer (licence 2PS27252) under the Pawnbrokers and Second-hand Dealers Act 1996, and the law requires us to record who we buy from.

Interstate? We arrange insured courier pickup from anywhere in Australia. Once the watch arrives and is authenticated, payment is made within 48 hours.

Trading your Rolex for another watch

If you are selling your Rolex to buy something else, we can take it as part-payment against anything in our stock. We value your watch, apply it against the one you want, and settle any difference on the day. See our current Rolex stock.

Common questions about selling a Rolex

Can I sell my Rolex without the box and papers?

Yes. We buy Rolex watches without box or papers regularly. A full set adds value, but its absence doesn't stop a sale.

I've lost the warranty card. Can I still sell?

Yes. The card adds value because it proves the watch's origin, but the Horologist's inspection confirms the watch itself. Many Rolex watches we buy have no card.

Should I polish or service my Rolex before selling it?

No. Polishing removes metal and can lower the value, and a service before a sale rarely returns what it costs. Bring the watch as it is and we will factor in its condition.

Do you buy vintage Rolex?

Yes. We buy vintage Rolex, including older two-tone and gold Datejust models. Original, unrestored condition matters even more on older watches.

Can I sell a Rolex I inherited?

Yes. We buy inherited Rolex watches regularly. If you have the box, papers or any history for it, bring them, but they are not required.

How much will you pay for my Rolex?

It depends on the reference, condition, completeness and current demand. Send us the model and photos and we will give you a realistic range before you come in, then a firm offer once the Horologist has seen it. The valuation is free.
