Not every collectible Rolex needs hype to make sense. The Kermit was Rolex’s 50th anniversary Submariner, released in 2003 — the first time green ever made it onto a Sub bezel. It ran alongside the regular black-bezel 16610 until 2010, when ceramic took over and the 16610LV quietly went out of production. The aluminium-bezel green Sub became a one-generation reference, and the people who bought one have mostly held on to them.
This example is a 2006 Z Serial in great condition. Original aluminium bezel insert, original handset, original dial, on its original Oyster bracelet. Comes with the original Rolex box. No papers — reflected in the price. Backed by our 12-month TWB in-house warranty, with our own service team if anything ever needs attention down the line.
At 40mm on the Oyster bracelet, the 16610LV wears the way a five-digit Submariner should — balanced and comfortable, the right size before the range moved into the modern era. The aluminium green bezel is the whole point of this reference. It catches light differently to ceramic, takes on subtle character with age, and looks the way a Submariner bezel used to look before the catalogue went uniform.
At $17,900 AUD, this is a clean example of the original green Submariner — the reference that started a story Rolex is still telling with the Hulk, the Starbucks, and everything in between. Discontinued aluminium bezel, 40mm case, Z Serial production. The kind of Sub that quietly makes sense for someone building a long-term collection. Viewings by appointment, Sydney CBD.
