Omega Speedmaster Ed White 311.30.40.30.01.001 2025 - stainless steel chronograph with black step dial, front view

There are watches you buy for the name on the dial, and watches you buy for the movement behind it. The Omega Speedmaster ‘Ed White’ 311.30.40.30.01.001 is one of the rare few that earns both. It is a faithful reissue of the third-generation Speedmaster that astronaut Ed White wore outside Gemini 4 in June 1965, on the first American spacewalk, and it runs the reborn Calibre 321 — the same column-wheel chronograph movement Omega carried through the early space programme. These are built in small numbers and rarely surface locally.

This example is a 2025 model in excellent condition, supplied as a full set with the original Omega box, papers, and two additional NATO straps. The Omega international warranty runs through to 2030, so the next owner has years of genuine factory coverage ahead. It has been preserved with its original proportions intact and presents exactly as a piece of this calibre should.

The detail that sets this reference apart sits under the sapphire caseback. The reborn Calibre 321 was reconstructed by Omega from CT scans of an original 321, the architecture rebuilt component for component — column wheel, horizontal clutch and all — then finished in 18k Sedna gold PVD. At 39.7mm in stainless steel, with the black step dial, vintage applied Omega logo, and a polished black ceramic bezel carrying a white enamel tachymeter scale, it reads as a period-correct Speedmaster while quietly modernising the parts that benefit from it.

At $21,000 AUD, this is a 2025 full-set Ed White with warranty to 2030 and one of the most significant movements Omega has put back into production this century. It is the Speedmaster for the collector who already understands what the 321 means. Viewings by appointment, Sydney CBD.
